Coaches, these pages were created for you! We are so glad that you are working with BYU Capstone. If you have any additional questions, please contact any of the Capstone administration or staff, who will be happy to help you!
This section will give you an overview of your role in Capstone.
You should review the Mission and Aims of a BYU Education because they guide all that we do in the BYU Capstone program. The BYU Capstone program is a bridging experience between the academic environment and the professional engineering world in which we hope our students will lead. As students engage positively in the program, working with external sponsors, Capstone leads to “Lifelong Learning and Service”. As a culminating engineering experience for engineering seniors in which they use the skills they have acquired through three years of engineering training, it is “Intellectually Enlarging”. We hope that as the students learn to work in teams and work with the Spirit, the experience will be “Spiritually Strengthening” and “Character Building”. BYU Capstone is a culminating experience for the students who go through and embrace the program.
We appreciate your desire to work with our capstone students to help them become successful engineers. Students will value your experience and expertise, and you will be an example to them of a professional that can blend technical and interpersonal abilities with faith. Spending time with students (in group and one-on-one) is one of the best ways to help them develop. While projects and sponsor relationships are important, your top priority is the welfare and development of the students in your stewardship.
