Fixing Mistakes

This page contains instructions for fixing the most common mistakes made when adding data to the website.

Wrong File Submitted

Students may submit the wrong file for a review. Coaches may submit the wrong file for an evaluation. By design, we do not allow them to resubmit, because we don't want the evaluators to be halfway through an evaluation and then have a new submission.

This means that an instructor will need to delete the submitted file before allowing a new file to be uploaded.

NOTE: Do NOT delete a submission or an evaluation. Instead, follow the instructions below to delete a submitted file for either the submission or the evaluation.

Fixing a Team Submission

  • Go to the team submission page
    • Go to the Reviews section of your dashboard
    • Click on the appropriate Review link
    • On the Review page, click on the submission link
  • On the Submission page, click on the Edit tab (at the top of the page), just under the Submission title
  • Delete the content of the PDF field
  • Click Save
  • Delete the submitted file on Box
    • Go to Box/Capstone Master/Submitted Files/<School Year> Submitted Files/<School Year> Team Submissions/Team <Team Number> <School Year>
    • Select the erroneously submitted file
    • Send the file to the trash
  • Have the team resubmit their document

Fixing a Coach Evaluation Submission

  • Go to the evaluation submission page
    • Go to the Reviews section of your dashboard
    • Click on the appropriate Review link
    • On the Review page, click on the submission link
    • On the Submission page, click on the appropriate evaluation link
  • On the Evaluation page, click on the Edit tab (at the top of the page), just under the Submission title
  • Delete the content of the appropriate field (Scoresheet File or Comments File)
  • Click Save
  • Delete the submitted file on Box
    • Go to Box/Capstone Master/Submitted Files/<School Year> Submitted Files/<School Year> Report Evaluations/Team <Team Number> <School Year>
    • Select the erroneously submitted file
    • Send the file to the trash
  • Have the coach resubmit their document

Fixing a typo in an email message from the Capstone System

  • The text for the email is found at byucapstone.byu.edu, under the Configuration tab of the gray menu bar (use the black Manage button if the gray menu bar doesn’t show up).
  • Then click on the CFS Mail Messages button (in the System group).
  • Find the appropriate message base on the transitions (in this case, from Waiting for Submission to Submitted (Late)), and click on the Edit button to see and change the message text.
  • In this particular case, there are two messages: a Confirmation message (to the team), and a Notification message (to the Grading Coaches). Edit the Notification message, and the typo will be gone.
